- My Treatment Philosophy: Empowerment and Growth
- My therapeutic work is rooted in the concept of empowerment. I believe that every individual has an inherent capacity for psychological healing and growth, rooted in their unique personal strengths and internal resilience. However, trauma, grief, and chronic stress can cloud this strength, leading to self-doubt, emotional distress, and irrational beliefs about one’s worth. I take a client-centered approach, tailoring treatment to meet each individual's needs. I integrate cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mind-body relaxation techniques to help clients recognize and shift unhelpful thinking patterns, rebuild self-esteem, and enhance emotional well-being.
- Licensure and Educational Background
- I am a licensed counseling psychologist in Taiwan and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York. I received my bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Chung Shan Medical University, and earned dual master’s degrees—a Master of Arts (M.A.) and a Master of Education (Ed.M.)—from the Counseling and Clinical Psychology program at Teachers College, Columbia University.
- Clinical Experience in the United States
- During my time in New York City, I worked with adults, children, LGBTQ+ individuals, and families across various settings, including hospital, private clinic, and non-profit mental health organizations. Some of the issues I supported clients with include, but are not limited to: ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), hypochondriasis, and relationship difficulties. While working in private practice, I received focused training in enhancing couple communication, helping partners develop healthier, more constructive ways to connect and resolve conflicts. My training in play therapy and dance/movement therapy also supported creative and developmentally appropriate engagement with children.
- Clinical Practice in Taiwan
- My services include, but are not limited to, clinical interventions for emotional and adjustment-related challenges, stress management, parenting skills training, behavioral therapy, play therapy, and early intervention for young children. I also incorporate neurofeedback techniques to support individuals with ADHD in enhancing their attention regulation and focus. I also offer family and couples therapy, with a continued focus on enhancing relationship communication. For clients dealing with anxiety, I incorporate biofeedback techniques to improve emotional regulation. In addition, I provide solution-focused counseling and coaching through Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) to assist individuals navigating personal and workplace challenges.
- Cultural Sensitivity and Integration
- Working across both Eastern and Western contexts has deepened my appreciation of how cultural values influence psychological needs and healing processes. This cross-cultural experience continues to shape my commitment to delivering care that is not only evidence-based, but also culturally responsive, flexible, and deeply respectful of each client’s background and worldview.
